Party Lab Question - Baby Shower

Dear Party Lab, I’m holding a baby shower for my best friend and she’s decided not to know in advance the sex of the baby.  So she doesn’t want her baby shower to be pink or blue.  Do you have any ideas beyond color that I can incorporate into the shower to make it more fun and memorable?  Thanks!Erin Dear Erin, For your best friend, we can understand why you want to put some forethought and effort into a theme to celebrate this special occasion.  While “theme” parties can sometimes fall into garish territory, there is a way to do it tastefully and elegantly. For a baby shower, we personally love the whimsical and cheerful theme of “butterflies” which represent...

Party Lab Question - Birthday for a one year old

Dear Party Lab,  Need help!  My daughter is turning one next month and I'm really stumped on where & how to get started with all the party planning!  We're planning to invite about 25 guests in total, with 12 of them under the age of three!  For the theme, we'd prefer something that was more gender-neutral so want to stay away from anything frilly + pink!  Any ideas?    Thanks!Lisa (mom to Ariel) Hi Lisa,  Thanks for your question!  For the first birthday, it’s always a special time as parents look back on the year and marvel at how how this little person has managed to captivate their lives!!  It’s an awesome milestone to celebrate as there are so many fun &...

Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for his highly-lauded role in The Revenant – will it be six times lucky?! One of my personal highlights actually begins before the much-anticipated opening number and that is the is the parade of celebrities in their finery on the Red Carpet!  Who will be...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Coming soon to a party near you!

This is the opening weekend of Star Wars – The Force Awakens and for many die-hard fans, the much-awaited release could not come soon enough!  As I looked around the sold-out cinema, it was interesting to observe that 90% of the theatre was packed with males, primarily aged 40+, and all carrying a look of anxious anticipation on their face, including my own long-suffering husband! It has been a painfully long wait for Star Wars devotees, seven years to be specific since Star Wars: The Clone Wars!    Leading up the release, it was heart-warming to read & watch stories of fathers sharing their love for this sci-fi classic with their children by re-watching some (or all!) of the Star...
